For my 2nd blog I wanted to address something that many people have come across when they start a training program and also a diet program. Or both at the same time. When I first started training people, this really hit me and I truly understood it from my client point of view. For example, if a client comes to a trainer and is looking for a workout & diet program with the actual trainer, one of two things of what this title of this blog is about. If they are single and/or not living or having to worry about anyone else outside on what they are trying to do here or basically supporting them through this it’s uplifting for them and the confidence for them to go ahead and put forth the effect and more importantly pay the money for the training and the diet itself. Because once you do that it will trigger, for most people, that I paid all this money I have to put forth the effort or at least get through it to get my money’s worth. Which in some cases is sad to say but it’s true. Not all are like that, the ones who come in with that confidence and have that support from their family will go far in their actual training & thought process in doing it. Again psychology. The actual training and starting of their dieting and continuation throughout the weeks they are on their diet and training is so much easier for the client if that support & understanding is there from them from the beginning. This is great and very uplifting.

Now on the flip side of this is something that I’ve come across several times. It’s disturbing, sad and upsetting to say the least. Not only from the trainer’s end but especially to see it from the client’s side and perspective as well. To have clients come to you telling you, the trainer and their nutritionist, breaking down and/or flat out saying they are not following what you have put forth to help them achieve their goals telling you no I can’t do it for one reason. That reason being the direct opposite that I wrote about above. Some clients get that much needed support and encouragement from their family and friends while there are others who get the direct opposite. They come to me either all dejected, upset and/or angry that they are having to deal with this. Either if they are trying to lose weight, do a bodybuilding/figure/fitness show, or just trying to feel better the support of the family and friends are that actual person plays more into their actual sticking to the program rather than them actually doing the actual diet and training itself. These specific types of clients, and my heart goes out to them, they come to me explaining that their family and/or friends are not supporting them. Either that they don’t care that they are doing this to help the well being or pursue an actual goal they are looking to achieve. The stories of basic sabotage that the families or friends go to lengths to put this client through is hard to hear. Some while starting dieting and putting forth a true and honest effort, she was also the cook of the house and was cooking dinner each night. So she decided she was going to start cleaning up dinner to adapt to her diet in some ways. But her family would not have it. Complained everytime out and then went out of their way to order her favorite “cheat” food, pizza. And ate it right in front of her while she was eating her diet food. Other examples rage from significant others not showing interest in what means something to you & purposely blowing it and them off while they do this. Others have lost friends because of them choosing this type of lifestyle to make their life better or reach a specific goal that means something to them. All this is not right and is wrong.
