Competition Show Prep
This is a part of my experience I have had on many sides. On the stage, training and preparing someone for a show and actually working the show itself. To experience this certain experience is something that will change your mindset and give you goals on what you thought you could do, what you can do and towards what your body and mind can push past if given the opportunity. With experience doing shows in many cities in front of 1000s of people, it helps myself look at & see things differently and from a better perspective from a personal trainer and a nutritionist perspective. In doing shows, it does make one learn more so about the human body. In doing a show you learn what you can do, what you can’t do, how your body changes daily to weekly & ultimately a overall complete lifestyle change if one can control and see that for themselves. I’ve been able to learn from my experiences on stage to add to my knowledge, thoughts and standpoints with doing personal training and nutritional programs.
I’ve also had the honor and privilege to help clients and/or competitors training and preparing for a show, all the way up through the final week and through the actual show itself. This is something that I also enjoyed. Yes being a personal trainer and nutritionist I love doing but to train & prepare someone for actually doing a show is something that is also very rewarding. In seeing your client having a far more specific goal via 12-15 weeks to completely devote themselves and stick to this goal for them to walk on stage, with barely either barely a two piece or a thin loincloth, it gives you and your client tunnel vision to do & look the absolute best. That itself is something rewarding, because to see your client transform their body in a way they themselves sometimes didn’t think possible is awesome. For the others that have done shows before and you helped them through it, if you do your job right they will and have been grateful. All positive things.
Then to actually being able to work a show itself, which I have done as well. You name the job, I have probably done it. 1) Friday Check Ins ✅️2) Setting up the chairs & tables for the show check✅️3) Taking the💰at the front door check ✅️4) Oversaw the AV and music for the show✅️5) Usher ✅️6) Stagehand for prejudge (morning show) ✅️7) Golfer for the backstage ✅️8) Put up the stage/show set, markings and lightning✅️9) Was in charge of getting and lining up competitors to go on stage ✅️10) Worked as the lead point man backstage. Last person the competitor saw before going on stage ✅️11) Book the Hotel/Venue/Restaurant✅️12) Work with the promoter to help set up, advertise and break down the show itself✅️
Given all that I’ve been able to do given this specific interest, I am very confident and know I will be able to help anyone who is looking or thinking into going down this road. It’s hard. Not going to lie, but the process is well worth the reward. You can do more than you think you can. If you need that help or someone to walk you through it, I’m here to do just that.
